Sketches
This chart represents most of the facial expressions Baby and her friends show in the series. With this, I traced a baby pic of myself multiple times, with multiple attempts, to have them appear alike. Yet they certainly don't in the graphic novel, now do they?
This here is concept art of Baby. I didn't want her too realistic in appearance; I didn't want her looking like a fat candy baby from the fifties either. I almost could have gone with the sketch of her on the far top right, with the hair past her ears. She needed that cutesy baby appearance overall: the fat rings, the fat cheeks, the wide eyes.
Oh and apologies these pics are way small. All you have to do is right click and open them in a new tab. I’m still a newbie at WordPress. Guess you figured that out already.
Concept art part two. How would the art turn out? Would colored pencil and ink grace the pages? Watercolor and ink? In the middle I tested out different art mediums, pairing them with the art I had: Left to right: watercolor pencil with . . .pencil; pen and ink; colored pencil Ultimately I decided upon watercolor pencil, with pen and ink. Yes, the decapitated babies were traced over again.
